It was my third time in Tarifa since 2004, always early October when the crowds have returned to their office cubicles. This time the forecast was absolute shit, but that didn't stop us from kiting three days out of four. Tarifa stood well up for its reputation as _the_ place to be when you're a kiter in Europe. Not to mention the tapas and wine.

Its getting cold in Estonia, its time for shoes - I hate them.
Took me 3 stripes, unhook and safety leash fail and my dear Vegas was flying away from me. Thank for fellow kiters who helped me to get it back, friend Aivar to untangle the lines - got back on in 30min, but wind dropped.. not very common thing in autumn here. Hope it's getting better before it gets too cold.
Big thanks to Aivar for these photos. My dear Vegas 9m2 on the left.

Rhodes - Prassonissi 22/09 17:01

Those of you who've been there want to go back and those who have not, should go.
Two islands, separated by a massive sand field offer (depending on the wind of course) either very nice big waves or, on the other side - offshore flat.
My first try was a complete failure. No wind. A few kiters running up and down the sand among the scattered trash that had been delivered from the sea trying to show their kites are up to scratch even with no wind. Myself included - of course.
Now, as far as I can tell - there either is no wind or - there's lots of it in Prassonissi. As my next try was something completely different. I drove to there early in the next morning, as the forecast showed increasing wind from 6am. I got there at 8 and the wind was about 12-13 m/s (25 knots). By the time I got my 12m2 Rebel up, it was way more. I could hardly drag the kite and myself to the sea, let alone fly the damn thing. I'd say the wind wes reaching 14-15 m/s (28 knots?). Full depower, lots of courage, several very fast stripes, some jumps, loads of salty water and seaweed in every part of my body, and a broken 5th line which just could not take the pressure (brand new one btw).
And all that in 1 hour.
But I got to tell, I learned more about kitesurfing in that 1 hour of manic dragracing than in the last year.
P.S. If you don't get that nasty seaweed (or whatever that paper-like stuff was) off of you before it dries... it's tricky later
